Bandits kidnap nurses, patients in Kaduna hospital

Two nurses and an unspecified number of patients were abducted on Monday, September 9 inside a Primary Healthcare Centre in Kuyallo, Birnin-Gwari Local Government Area of Kaduna State.

It was gathered that bandits attacked the Health Centre on Monday morning and abducted the two nurses and an unspecified number of patients.

The bandits, who reportedly arrived around 9:00 am on Monday, first targeted the nearby Government Day Secondary School but found it empty, according to Musa Alhassan, a leader of a local vigilante group. He said the gunmen then shifted their focus to the healthcare facility where they abducted the nurses on duty and patients who came to receive treatment.

“They came looking for students, but when they discovered the school was vacant, they went straight to the health centre and began abducting people,” Alhassan said.

As of the time of filing this report, there was no official statement from either the state government or the police.

Bandits have doubled down on their attacks against Nigerians, especially in the North.

Last week, notorious bandit leader, Bello Turji, levied every household and adult male member of Moriki community in Zamfara State several sums of money towards raising N30 million as compensation over killing of his cows by military men stationed in the community.

The 30-year-old terrorist initially demanded N50 million but later reduced it to N30 million after plea from members of the community.
