Gunmen ambushed and shot dead four Nigerian Army personnel in Gudu local government area border Community of Sokoto State on Saturday.
The terrorists attacked and killed 8 farmers, rustled over 1,260 livestock in the area.
According to reporting by New Telegraph, the Council Sole Administrator Hon Umar MaiKano Balle confirmed the attack.
The young sole administrator of the area, Hon. Balle, who was among those ambushed by the bandits, escaped with his life, after operatives engaged in gun duel with the terrorists during the attack.
Also confirmed so far, four soldiers died and seven others wounded as a result of gunshots in addition to the burning of their vehicle.
Balle further stated that about six to seven soldiers sustained severe injuries as a result of the insurgents attack.
The injured security personnel are currently receiving emergency treatment at Gudu General Hospital and we’re expected to be referred to the Usmanu Danfodiyo Teaching Hospital Sokoto on Sunday.
The bandits also set ablaze two operational vehicles, a Land Cruiser models of the security personnel.
It was further gathered that more security personnel have already been deployed to the area as a result of the incident.
Local communities have expressed sadness over the incidents, noting that the violent attack on the chairman of Gudu Local Government and other security personnel was in connection with the hard work and dedication to raid the banditry activities in the area.
