Bandits abduct former local govt chairman, others in Kebbi
A group of bandits has seized Garba Hassan, a former chairman of Kebbi State’s Ngeski Local Government Area, along with 12 other individuals.
Hassan and the rest of the group were traveling as passengers in a commercial vehicle when they were forcefully abducted by armed assailants on the Tegina – Kontagora Road in Kebbi State on Thursday.
This unfortunate incident took place as the victims were en route from Abuja to Kebbi State. The bandits concealed themselves in the thickets between Tegina and Kontagora town in Niger State before launching their attack and intercepting the vehicle.
Following the interception, the bandits compelled the victims to accompany them into the wilderness, leading to their subsequent transportation to an undisclosed location.
As of the time of filing this report, the local police authorities have not issued any official statements regarding this incident.
“I will find out and get back to you,” the spokesperson of the Niger Police Command, Wasiu Abiodun, told Channels Television.
On a separate note, the Chief Press Secretary to the Kebbi State Governor, Ahmed Idris, acknowledged awareness of the situation and confirmed that they are currently conducting an inquiry into the incident.

Garba Hassan held the position of Ngeski local government chairman from 2007 to 2015 as a member of the All Progressives Congress (APC). However, it came to light that he had intentions of rejoining the APC before the unfortunate incident of his abduction occurred.
