Senator Michael Opeyemi Bamidele, a witness of the All Progressives Congress and President Bola Tinubu at the Presidential Election Petition Court (PEPC), has told the court that when Peter Obi contested for presidency under the umbrella of the Labour Party, he was still a member of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
Bamidele is the newly elected Senate Majority Leader and a longtime ally of President Bola Tinubu. He served as Lagos State Commissioner of Information during the Babatunde Raji Fashola administration before resigning to contest a House of Representatives seat to represent Ekiti State.
Mr Bamidele was brought forward as a star witness of President Bola Tinubu and the All Progressives Congress. In his witness statement, he claimed that Tinubu’s result were not fully recorded in Kano state. He said votes recorded by the President were reduced by 10,929 votes and that as at April 25, 2022, Peter Obi was still a PDP member in Anambra state and still contested under Labour Party.
Mr Bamidele who is currently the majority leader of the Nigerian senate is a practicing lawyer in the United State.
Mr Bamidele presented the PDP membership card of the Labour Party’s presidential candidate as evidence.
Recall that Mr Obi had decamped from PDP to LP before the presidential Primary Election of PDP. Mr Obi decamped to LP after PDP failed to zone its presidency ticket to the south.
