Daniel Bwala, a former aide to the 2023 Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar, has criticized President Bola Tinubu for failing to improve the lot of Nigerians despite assembling an extensive government.
Bwala accused Tinubu of establishing the largest cabinet and an inflated government in the history of Nigeria. Despite the substantial size of his government and the influence of human rights advocates, Bwala contended that the President has failed to steer the country towards progress.
Taking to X, Bwala expressed his belief that Nigeria cannot make substantial progress as long as Tinubu does not prioritize the unification of the nation. He emphasized that Tinubu’s appointments appear to be driven by nepotism.
In his words, “This is the most substantial cabinet in the history of the Republic, an expanded government since the return of democracy. President @officialABAT seemingly holds considerable sway over media, impacting the careers of roughly 60 percent of journalists in the country, and approximately 40 percent of human rights advocates and civil society organization founders. He even possesses a television network and a newspaper company. Nevertheless, the public perception remains unfavorable, and the prevailing narrative remains unchanged.”
Bwala went on to explain that the reason for this unfavorable perception is the absence of leadership focused on unifying the nation and ensuring every citizen feels a sense of belonging. He highlighted the pervasive nepotism in the current administration.
