Daniel Bwala, spokesman for the presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the February 25, 2023 election, Atiku Abubakar, has said that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu is set to announce a prominent member of the Labour Party as one of his cabinet ministers.
Bwala, a former inner-circle member of the All Progressives Congress (APC), left the party in protest of its Muslim-Muslim ticket. He, however, says he retains friends in his old party.
In a tweet yesterday, Bwala claimed that Tinubu has solicited and gotten the consent of a particular LP chieftain to serve as cabinet minister in the APC government.
According to Bwala, the aim is to cause an upset in the camp of the Labour Party which remains a major threat to Tinubu in the South.
.
He said: “PBAT is reported to want to cause a major upset in the Labour Party camp by appointing one of the key figures of the Obi presidential team into his cabinet as a minister. It is also reported that the person has agreed.”
The comments below the tweet all speculated that the prospective minister nominee is Pat Utomi.
Here are some of the reactions.
@usmanid10912728 said: “If @UtomiPat is the person, that’ll be excellent. He’s a material that will cause a significant positive impact in the @officialABAT administration.”
@STAbubakar said: “Pat Utomi deserves to be on @officialABAT cabinet to strengthen national unity as well as enable him to play a vital role in the renewed hope agenda.”
@UkUsedBoy said: “We all came into LP because of PO (Peter Obi) and Datti … PO especially .. So anyone can move on.”
@Kickflowdown said: “Datti can take appointment too, like Peter Obi’s deputy accepted LG chairman while Obi was in court. Utomi is free to accept the job.”
