Presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the 2023 election, Atiku Abubakar, attended the party’s stakeholders meeting where certain crucial decisions were expected to be taken.
Among the decisions was how to deal with the immediate past governor of Rivers State, Mr Nyesom Wike, following his nomination as minister by President Bola Tinubu.
It is not clear at the time of writing what decisions have been reached concerning the Wike issue, but Atiku tweeted that the meeting was productive.
He said: “Earlier today, I joined other leaders and stakeholders of our great party, the @OfficialPDPNig, at a meeting in Abuja. The meeting was ripe with productive discourse and collaborative energy.”
Atiku and Wike don’t see eye to eye sfter Wike sabotaged his presidential quest.
With Wike’s nomination as minister in the APC government, the stage seems set for his suspension.
Already, the Acting National Chairman of the PDP, Ambassador Umar Damagum, said consultation was already in progress on the Wike issue, as per reporting by Nation newspaper.
“We are already consulting with the PDP Governors Forum on the matter and the National Working Committee (NWC) will be meeting on Monday to take a definite position on it,” Damagum said.
But feelers from the PDP meeting indicate a possibility that Wike may be suspended.
