‘As a man, you can’t see Senator Natasha and close your eyes,’ says ex-works minister Adeseye Ogunlewe

A former minister of works, Adeseye Ogunlewe has offered another perspective on the crisis brewing between the Kogi Central Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan and Senate President Godswill Akpabio.

Natasha had accused Akpabio of victimising her, changing her seat and removing her from a committee on local content because she refused his sexual advances. In reaction, the senate slammed Natasha six months suspension over what they termed a ‘breach of their rules.’

But during an interview on Arise News, Ogunlewe, who was also a former senator, said Natasha’s beauty is the problem.

He said: “The beauty of Distinguished Senator Natasha is a problem to her. You know men, when somebody who is pretty passes by you, your attitude will change. You can smile, you can wink. But you may not talk to her. But her beauty is a problem.”

Rufai Oseni, one of the interviewers probed further: “How’s her beauty a problem.”

Ogulewe added: “To men, when she is passing, there is no way a man will not look at that woman.”

Reuben Abati, also on the interview panel jockinly said: “Their job (senators) is to make laws not to go and look at beautiful women.”

Ogulewe insisted that the beauty is the problem. He said: “It’s a natural thing for a man to look at beautiful women. How can you be a man and a beautiful woman is passing, and you close your eyes? It is in-built.”
