Arise TV reporter, Rufai Oseni, threatened to kill me in a phone conversation, Omokri alleges

Former Presidential spokesman, Reno Omokri, has revealed that ace broadcaster, Rufai Oseni, threatened to kill him in a recorded phone conversation.

Making the allegation in a tweet on Tuesday, Omorki alleged that the ace reporter used his position as a renowned reporter to lie to the general public.

“On Tuesday, November 22, 2022, Rufai Oseni, a known supporter and campaigner for Peter Obi, the Presidential candidate of the Labour Party, used his position as a news journalist on a major news network to lie to the general public that Chicago State University was hit with a subpoena, and on the strength of that subpoena, they denied then-candidate Bola Tinubu’s academic credentials. This was just three months before the Presidential election,” Omokri claimed.

“I physically went to Chicago State University and was given a document proving that what Mr. Rufai Oseni said was false. When I proved that he lied, he threatened to kill me and destroy me in a recorded phone call,” he added.

Challenging Mr Rufai to publish the purported document he got from Chicago State University that claimed President Tinubu did not graduate from the institution, Mr Omokri further alleged that the Arise TV reporter lied to manipulate the outcome of the Presidential Election Petition Tribunal in favor of Peter Obi.

“Today, I again ask that Rufai Oseni should #PublishTheSubpoena or admit that he lied in a bid to manipulate the election in favour of Mr. Peter Obi. If our government will not do it, then it is incumbent on us to keep our media honest and corrupt-free. If we cannot trust our media, then we cannot have a genuine democracy,” he said.

Mr Obi had on Monday discarded claims by Mr Omokri that suggested that he bribed Mr Rufai to distort narratives and information in his favour.
