The Kano State Police Command has responded to the scheduled demonstrations anticipated from supporters of the All Progressives Congress (APC) and the New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP) on Friday, November 24, and Saturday, November 25.
In a press release issued to journalists on Friday, the police command urged residents of Kano to maintain patriotism and refrain from participating in any illegal gatherings, protests, or processions.
The statement emphasized that such assemblies could potentially incite violence within the state. The police also reassured residents that comprehensive security measures have been implemented to safeguard lives and properties.
According to the statement, “Reliable information available to the Command indicates that certain groups purporting to be supporters of both NNPP and APC are utilizing various media platforms to mobilize individuals and strategizing to take to the streets on Saturday, November 25, 2023, to protest against the Kano State Governorship Appeal Court’s verdict.
“The information further discloses that the protesters’ aim is to paralyze the state and target prominent opponents from political parties, actions that may lead to potential violence,” the statement highlighted.
