The All Progressives Congress (APC) has responded to a call by the Labour Party’s presidential candidate for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to clarify his identity, asserting that there are no identity issues to address.
Mr. Felix Morka, the national publicity secretary of the APC, issued this statement in response to the Labor Party’s request.
APC criticized the Labour Party’s candidate, Peter Obi, for questioning President Tinubu’s identity, emphasizing President Tinubu’s strong track record as an administrator and politician.
The party stated, “Mr. Obi must recognize that President Tinubu does not require re-introduction. His identity is clear, except for the fabricated narratives spun by his political opponents like Atiku and Peter.”
The statement highlighted President Tinubu’s accomplishments and contributions over the years. It underlined his professional background as a former auditor and treasurer at Mobil Nigeria, now ExxonMobil.
It also pointed to his tenure as a Senator of the Federal Republic, during which he chaired the influential Finance and Appropriations Committee. Furthermore, President Tinubu’s successful tenure as Governor of Lagos State, where he laid the foundation for the growth and prosperity of the state, was mentioned. Lagos State is currently the fifth largest economy in Africa.
The party reiterated that Nigerians voted for President Tinubu as the 16th President and Commander-in-Chief of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, expressing full faith in his track record and competence to revitalize the country’s economy for the benefit of the majority.
APC highlighted that Atiku Abubakar and Peter Obi had been repeatedly rejected by Nigerians in previous elections. The statement questioned Peter Obi’s performance during his eight-year tenure as the Governor of Anambra State, asserting that he left no noteworthy legacy.
