The ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) has taken a decisive step by dissolving the executive committees of the party in Rivers State across all levels. This significant decision was conveyed by Barrister Felix Morka, the National Publicity Secretary of the APC.
Addressing reporters after the National Working Committee (NWC) meeting in Abuja on Wednesday night, Morka disclosed the formation of a caretaker committee. Chief Tony Okocha has been appointed as the committee’s chairman, with Chief Eric Nwibani serving as the secretary.
The other members set to be inaugurated on Friday include Hon. Chibuike Ikenga, Prince Stephen Abolo, Hon. Silvester Vidin, Senibo Karibi Dan-Jumbo, and Miss Darling Amadi.
The primary objective of the caretaker committee is to conduct a thorough and new electronic registration of all party members in the state.
Morka highlighted that, as per the NWC’s directives, the caretaker committee is entrusted with the responsibility of organizing congresses to facilitate the emergence of new executive committees at various levels, from the ward to the state.
Morka underscored, “The caretaker committee has been given a six-month timeframe to accomplish its mandate.”
It’s noteworthy that Chief Tony Okocha is recognized as a staunch supporter and political ally of the Minister of the FCT, Nyesom Wike. Okocha recently led a delegation of Wike’s loyalists on a courtesy visit to the APC National Chairman, Dr. Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, in Abuja, during which he accused Rotimi Amaechi of working against Tinubu in the last election.
