Amusan, Okon anchor Nigeria’s sprint sweep at African Games

Nigeria’s track and field athletes displayed a dazzling combination of speed and teamwork at the 13th African Games on Wednesday night, clinching gold medals in both the men’s and women’s 4x100m relay events.

The Nigerian contingent left spectators in awe as they outpaced their continental rivals, solidifying their track and field dominance on the continental stage. The women’s quartet, comprising Tobi Amusan, Justina Eyakpobeyan, Olajide Olayinka and Fore Abinusawa, blazed through the track, crossing the finish line in an impressive 43.06 seconds.

Their remarkable performance relegated Liberia and Ghana to second and third place, respectively. Not to be outdone, the men’s team, consisting of Sunday Israel Okon, Consider Ekanem, Alaba Akintola and Usheoritse Itsekiri, stormed to victory in the 4x100m relay, clocking an impressive 38.41 seconds.
