The Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation Limited has debunked claims of a possible increase in the pump price of fuel.
Their clarification comes amid warning by the Nigeria Labour Congress to shut down the nation should the nation record a further increase in the pump price of fuel.
Making this clarification in a statement made available on its official Twitter page, NNPCL said there was no intention to increase the pump price of fuel.
“Dear esteemed customers, we at NNPC Retail value your patronage, and we do not have the intention to increase our PMS pump prices as widely speculated,” statement by NNPCL partly read.
Recall that NLC on Monday threatened to shut down the nation if the pump price of fuel increased any further.
NLC President, Joe Ajaero, said if the price of fuel goes up by any margin, the NLC would proceed on strike without notice.
There are already indications that due to the rise in the exchange rate, a litre of fuel may sell for N720, depending on what part of the country one is buying the commodity.
Oil marketers during a press briefing in Abuja yesterday, warned that the scarcity of forex would push the price of fuel high in the coming days.
