Akande-Sadipe wins House of Reps seat for second term
The only female House of Representatives member from Oyo State, Tolulope Akande-Sadipe has been declared the winner of the Oluyole federal constituency election.
Akande-Sadipe who won the second term election in office, contested on the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC).
Recalls that the election held on Saturday, 25th March 2023 was declared inconclusive due to some irregularities in some polling units.
A supplementary election was, however, held in two polling units on Saturday.
Polling unit 001, A.B.E. Technical, Ward 02, Oluyole local government area and polling unit 001, I.D.C. school, Olurinde in Ward 07 Oluyole local government area, participated in the supplementary election.
The election was supervised by Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), led by Resident Electoral Commissioner (REC) in the state, Rahman Adeniran Tella, security agencies and other stakeholders.
The lawmaker who is the only female House of Representatives member from Oyo State was declared winner, Saturday evening.
Akande-Sadipe of APC at the end of the supplementary election, polled at a total of 14,891 votes to defeat her closest rival, Mogbonjubola Olawale Mojeed of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), who scored 13,073 votes.
Akande-Sadipe in her reaction pledged to rededicate herself to the service of the people of the area.
In a statement signed by Olamilekan Olusada, her SA Media and Publicity, Akande-Sadipe said she will ensure more gains of democracy are brought to the federal constituency.
“This victory looked like such an impossible task, especially after what happened during the first election, and then my mother died. I could not see my mother, because I was trying to protect my mandate.
“As I have been re-elected to serve you at Abuja, I will put in my very best to push our cause before the house to ensure that the dividends of democracy and opportunities available to my office reach my constituency”.
