West Africa’s largest carrier, Air Peace has recorded another milestone as it sets to commence direct flight operations from Lagos to Gatwick Airport in London, on March 30, 2024.
Nigeria’s Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, Festus Keyamo, had in late January, initiated talks with the UK officials in the transport department, on how to overcome the issue of direct flights from Lagos to London.
Keyamo had made it clear that one of his main goals in office was to help Nigeria’s domestic airlines grow and improve, supporting President Bola Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda.
Air Peace has since been permitted to fly into the UK but has been having trouble getting time slots at the Gatwick Airport in London.
The airline had in 2023 secured a Foreign Carrier Operator Permit (FCOP), to fly to London.
