The buzz in town is the official announcement of nominees of the 9th edition of the prestigious Africa Magic Viewer’s Choice Awards (AMVCA). Organised by the Africa Magic in association with Multi-choice, the AMVCA is recognising the cream of the crop, and is celebrating outstanding African talents, from film production to culture, fashion, music and everything related.
The 2023 Africa Magic Viewers’ Choice Awards is scheduled to hold between May 18 and 20, 2023. The event will include a series of pre-show activities with the actual award show set to hold on 20 May 2023.
The nominees were revealed by actors Bisola Aiyeola, Adjetey Anang, Jasmine Olarotimi and child actor Nifemi Lawal, on Sunday, 16 April 2023 in a ceremony. A total of 12 categories are open to public voting, while the other 21 categories are to be decided by a panel of judges headed by Femi Odugbemi.
More nominees were recently announced by Bisola Aiyeola and Adjetey Anang, alongside child actors, Jasmine Olarotimi and Nifemi Lawal and would be hosted by none other than IK Osakioduwa. This year, he’s teaming up with the incredible Zozibini Tunzi, a South African model and reigning Miss Universe 2019.
These are some of the nominees with leading roles which bagged the most nominees of the night, from the seasoned veterans to the risingstars.
Chidi Mokeme, best actor in ‘Shanty Town’- (11 nominations).
Tobi Bakre, best actor in ‘Brotherhood’ – (11 nominations).
Ini Dima–Okojie in ‘Flawsome’ – best actress (5 nominations)
Toni Tones in ‘Brotherhood’ – best actress.
Scarlet Gomez in ‘Wura’- best actress.
Blossom Chukwujekwu in ‘The Trade’ – best actor.
Toolz whose podcast show “OffAir Show” was nominated for the best unscripted original category.
