The immediate past National Chairman of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), Senator Abdullahi Adamu, has said he awaits the return of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu from AU meeting in Kenya, before speaking on the controversy.
PoliticsNow earlier reported how Adamu was forced to resign as National Chairman of the APC in what bears semblance to a palace coup.
After keeping sealed lips since news of his resignation broke last night, Adamu, who is a founding member of the ruling party later opened up that his comment would be made when Tinubu returns from Kenya, as per reporting by Daily Trust.
“I won’t talk about the issue because the president is away,” Adamu was quoted as saying.
Tinubu left the country on Saturday and according to his itinerary released by Dele Alake, his spokesman, the president is due to return to the country at the end of the meeting.
A founding member of the party said Adamu resigned when he got wind that two influential personalities around the president had mobilised against him ahead of the National Caucus and National Executive Committee (NEC) meetings of the party slated for Tuesday and Wednesday.
The party had fixed July 10 and 11 for its National Caucus and NEC meetings to iron out critical issues affecting it and the crisis within the National Working Committee (NWC). However, the meetings were later postponed and rescheduled.
To save face, Hope Uzodimma was drafted to procure the resignation of Adamu, an assignment he successfully executed.
