A 35-year-old man, identified as Emmanuel Urhobocha, is believed to have committed suicide in his apartment on Alafia Street in Sango-Ota, Ado-Odo Ota Local Government Area, Ogun State.
The Ogun State Police Command said on Saturday, August 31, that the incident took place around 9:00 a.m. on Friday, August 30.
The command’s spokesperson, Odutola Omolola, said Urhobocha’s roommate, identified as Obabiyi David, had visited the Sango-Ota Police Division to report that his flatmate was acting strange and even attacked him with a knife.
David sustained injuries in the knife attack.
Policemen were dispatched to Urhobocha’s house but when they got there, they found the room locked from inside.
They forced the door open to find the suspect lying face down.
Odutola said, “He was discovered dead in the apartment, with a container of insecticide found next to his body.
“He was promptly transported to a local hospital for medical attention, but the attending doctor confirmed him dead. His body has been placed in the morgue for an autopsy, and the incident remains under investigation.”
