The qualification matches for the 2024 Olympic Games in Africa continued on Friday with South Africa and Nigeria in action.
South Africa’s women’s team, Banyana Banyana, played Tanzania in the first leg of their qualification round at the Azam Sports Complex in Dar es Salaam. They secured a commanding 3-0 victory, with Jerman Seoposenswe, Thembi Kgatlana, and Hildah Magaia finding the net for South Africa.
Nigeria’s women’s team, the Super Falcons, visited Cameroon and played at the Stade de la Reunification in Douala. Despite a dominant performance, the Super Falcons were unable to convert their chances, and the match ended in a goalless draw.
South Africa will now look to finish off Tanzania in the second leg at the Mbombela Stadium on Tuesday, while Nigeria will host Cameroon in Abuja on Monday. The winner between South Africa and Tanzania will face either Nigeria or Cameroon in the final round of qualification.
